There comes a moment in every life when success isn't enough, comfort isn't enough, even religion isn't enough. Because somewhere beneath the responsibilities, the routines, the deadlines, and the expectations, there is still a heart. A heart that was created for something more, more than surviving, more than existing, more than simply making it to Friday. God didn't design you merely to be safe, He designed you to be alive. Welcome to Beyond Belief, the podcast where we move beyond shallow religion and discover the breathtaking adventure of following Jesus. Today, we're asking a dangerous question. What if the life you've always wanted is waiting on the other side of courage? Have you ever noticed? Little boys rarely pretend to work in an office. They pretend to be explorers, pirates, knights, firefighters, astronauts, superheroes. Something inside every young heart longs for adventure. And the little girls, they don't simply want to exist. They dream, they imagine, they create beauty, they rescue, they nurture, they inspire. Something deep inside every human soul longs to matter. So here's the question: what happened? Where did the adventure go? Where did we exchange courage for comfort? Dreams for deadlines, passion for predictability. John Eldridge in Wild at Heart suggests something that has challenged millions of believers. He says, most men, and I'd argue most people, are living far beneath the life God intended. Not because they don't love God, but because somewhere along the way, their horse fell asleep. Today, I want to talk about waking them up. Welcome to Beyond Belief. Whether you're listening while driving, walking, working, or sitting quietly with a cup of coffee, I'm grateful you've invited me into your day. Today's conversation might challenge you. It might encourage you. It might even make you uncomfortable. And honestly, that's okay. Because growth really happens inside comfort. Can I tell you a story? Years ago, I found myself asking a very dangerous question. Is this it? Not because life was terrible. Actually, everything looked fine. Responsibilities, ministry, family, routines, schedules, meetings, emails, more meetings. And somewhere, between doing things for God, I realized I wasn't spending much time living with God. My calendar was full. My soul wasn't. I was achieving, but I wasn't alive. And maybe you've been there. You smile, you serve, you show up, but inside, something whispers, there has to be more. That whisper might just be God. And if we're honest, we've become experts at playing it safe. We ensure everything, we password everything, we back up everything, we plan everything. Nothing wrong with wisdom, but sometimes we confuse wisdom with fear. We don't take risks, we don't dream, we don't pray impossible prayers anymore. We simply manage life. But Jesus never invited anyone to manage. He invited people to follow. Following Jesus has always been an adventure, not predictable, not comfortable, and not always logical, but always worth it. Imagine standing beside Peter. Cold water splashes against the boat, the wind is roaring, lightning flashes, your hands grip the soaked wood. Then Jesus says, Come. One word, one invitation, one impossible opportunity. Peter has two choices: stay safe or walk on water. Every miracle begins where comfort ends. Comfort keeps you alive. Courage makes you come alive. Let's open scripture. Jesus says in John 10, verse 10, I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly. Not barely survive, not simply exist, abundant, overflowing, alive. The Greek word means life in its fullest expression. That is God's dream, not boredom, not spiritual routine, not lifeless religion, real life. Then Paul tells us, We are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Notice, good works don't create your identity. Identity creates your mission. God never created copies, he created originals. There has never been another you, and there will never be again. Which means your calling matters, your story matters, your courage matters. Imagine standing before God one day, and he doesn't ask, How much money did you make? Or even how famous were you? Instead, imagine him asking, What did you do with the heart I gave you? Protect it, hide it, or did you trust me enough to live fully? John Elridge says every man longs for three things: a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue. I think those desires point beyond masculinity. They're echoes of Eden. They remind us we were created for purpose, not passivity. Mission, not mediocrity. God never intended Christianity to become a spectator sport. Maybe today, God isn't asking you to quit your job. Maybe He's asking you to wake up, wake up to wonder, wake up to prayer, wake up to generosity, wake up to forgiveness, wake up to courage. Maybe your greatest adventure starts with one conversation, one apology, one act of obedience, one simple prayer, one yes. Never underestimate what one surrendered yes can become. Picture David, a teenage shepherd standing before Goliath. Everyone else saw a giant. David saw an opportunity for God. Faith doesn't ignore giants. Faith remembers who walks beside you. There is someone listening today who has quietly buried a dream God planted years ago. You've convinced yourself, I'm too old. I missed my chance. It's too late. Can I gently tell you something? If God is still breathing life into your lungs, He has not finished writing your story. Your best chapter may still be ahead. Ephesians says, we are God's workmanship. Now the Greek word is poema. It's where you get the word poem from. Think about that. You are God's masterpiece, not his mistake, not his afterthought, his masterpiece. And masterpieces are never mass-produced. They are handcrafted, intentional, unique, and sacred. Maybe you've believed your failures define you. They don't. Maybe you've believed fears own your future. It doesn't. Maybe you've believed your story is over. It isn't, because the author is still writing. Listen carefully. This may be the most important sentence you hear today. God is not asking you to become someone else. He's inviting you to become who he always created you to be. That is the adventure. That is being wild at heart. Imagine heaven holding its breath every time one ordinary believer says, Here I am, Lord, send me. History changes every time somebody says yes. Why not you? Why not now? Remember these truths. Your heart was designed for adventure. Courage grows through obedience. Comfort is a terrible master. And Jesus didn't save you merely for heaven. He saved you to live fully today. So this week, do one thing that requires faith. Call someone, forgive someone, start serving, share your testimony, pray boldly. Say yes before fear has time to answer. May you discover the courage you forgot you possessed. May your heart awaken to the voice of God. May fear lose its grip. May hope rise again. May Jesus become bigger than every giant before you. May your ordinary days become extraordinary adventures because you choose to walk with Him. Thank you for spending this time with me on The On Belief.
